What the hell happened tonight?

Uh... difficult to say. We planned to play a show tonight, a good low door price ($3) but we found out it was over 18 only. We thought, fuck that, but realized some people had driven as far as 50 miles to see us tonight. So Stan (bassist) walked over to a coffee house and asked if we could play in their courtyard for free. So, we tell people to head over here.

So everyone comes by...

No. This town is so weird. Those who couldn't get in came by, but the rest of the crowd left. This is what you get for trying to include everyone. People leave when they find out a show is free. Like it would be better if you paid for it. Make sense? Miami is ass backward.

How is it living in Miami? As dangerous as they say?

It isn't my original home and I hate it. The live club scene was happening for a while, punk type clubs. They disappeared. The shows disappeared. Everything disappeared, including the people. One show will have at most 20 people and another will have 1500. I don't know what the hell is wrong with them, just like I said last time. They'll go see Bad Brains for $15 or even $20, but won't see a band that's similar to them, like Machine or even Subliminal Criminal for $5. About "dangerous"; it's about as dangerous as any other city. All those surveys and tests they took which said Miami has the highest violent crime rate, worst drivers, and funniest to me was, nasiest and rudest people in all the world were Miamians! That one I might agree with. We've been places and it's all the same.

What does Timescape Zero sing about? Is there a TZ philosophy?

There is no Timescape Zero mentality, and I'm glad. I think we'd be too "run-of-the-mill". You see, Stan (bassist) is, in his mind, king of Straight Edge. Gigantic tattoo across his back and everything. He runs the local chapter of S.H.A.R.P. down here. Kyle (drums) on the other hand is a student that keeps to himself and gets drunk as fuck. Bry is a bum... I'm just kidding, but he squats in like tree houses and shit, abandoned warehouses. He is devoted to the weed. me I'm a anarco-fascist who believes in the total freedom of mankind, and a Satanist.

A Satanist?

Yeah so?

Like an Integrity-type Satanist?

Fuck that! I feel I've been one since birth, in a sense. My parents were fallen Christians, they brought me up teaching me that man does not need god to survive and that organized religion is more harmful than beneficial. I know you're gonna ask so I'll tell you right off the bat, I, nor any other real Satanist would ever sacrifice an animal or child. Real Satanists are involved with animal rights, and some are even vegitarians. All those idiots into child molestation or animal sacrifice are cults or individual fanatics whose heads aren't on straight. Either way, I know nothing about Dwid and Integrity', enough to comment on their belief system, but I have read their lyrics and they seem to be into it for style and lyrical content rather than actual study or belief. I can't stress this enough; read the original source, LaVey.

What about your lyrics?

Okay, lyrics stem from either personal experience with drugs, alcohol, gangs, sexism, homophobia.

Do you do drugs?

Not anymore, but I don't care for the tag "straight edge". I'm not into mass conformity or herdism thing . I'll probably smoke herb in the future anyhow.

Explain the sexism and homophobia you mentioned.

I wrote a song called "Love Black and Blue" telling women that if a man hits you, hit him back. Don't take no crap from a man. If you're a victim of pysical or sexual abuse, don't take it, and get the fuck out. It ends with the words, "Soon your hands she won't fear," because she'll get sick of it and fuck you up sooner or later - whether it's calling the police, leaving your dumb ass or killing you. The homophobia mentioned is from a song called "4 Letter Word", it's about an homophobes who think AIDS is a "gay only" disease. They have unprotected sex and may be spreading the virus themselves, or any other. I wrote it due to an argument I had with this kid who flat out told me you only get AIDS if you have anal intercourse with a man, because the virus is created by the skin of the penis and male anal secretions - I mean, does that make any sense at all? They're uneducated. The song is making a stab at naifs like him who need to wise up. Don't misquote me on that.

Why? Do people take a lot of what you say out of context?

No. Not... Oh, once a friend asked me to wear a shirt that said "Homophobia Kills" for photos in Queer 'Zine. I was up for it, and on stage I also joked that I was going to tattooo a little pink triangle on my wrist. After the show people rushed Stan (bassist) and we're complaining and shouting things like, "Why does he have a shirt that says Kill Homosexuals!?" Come on! We're on stage for over fourty-five minutes and people still can read correctly! I will admit, the right-wingers seem to have better reading skills than the local liberals, because they were calling me "fag" for weeks after that show. One shirt made so many stupid people unhappy.

Are you gay?

No, I'm straight, but open-minded where I see all men having a femenine side. The more they suppress it the more homophobic someone may become, or the more one degrades women to satisfy that feeling of needing to be one hundred precent male. Anima, animus... it's all very interesting.

What have you done musically?

We've recorded two demos and a live tape. We recorded a bunch of songs and we used two of them for a split 7" with Subliminal Criminal, which got a good review in MRR, so we sell it cheap, cuz we pressed it cheap. You can get rid of so many more that way. Pressed about 3000, 1000 at a time, paper covers. $600 per 1000. Sell them for $2, make a little overhead, it's been nice. We are recording songs now for the Born with the Fear of Dreaming LP. I would like to press it myself, on the Feast of Hate and Fear label -- you make more money that way, but others are interested though. We can be found on some tape, vinyl and CD compilations.

Is there anything you'd like to add?

No, I'm an "ask and speak" sort of person. Don't talk much, unless talked to.

Okay, then one question. Why doesn't Bry have a last name on any release?

He doesn't like his last name.

Thanks for everything.

Thank you.
