I first met Lawrence, called Rabbi because he was Jewish in a largely Latin crowd, when he mistakenly kicked my leg at a punk show in the late eighties. I had a rod placed in my femur bone, from a motorcycle accident, which was stuck in a muscle and I needed therapy. His trip over my foot dislodged the rod... releaving a month of discomfort.
He had booked punk, hardcore, metal and hip-hop shows in the local scene from 1989 through the mid nineties. He booked, planned and laid out Timescape Zero's first (and only) tour, and came along for the ride. He can be seen discussing his views of the punk / hardcore movement in Victory Records video documentary Release.
In 1993 we were painting a house together as an odd job, he kept talking about militia groups and the mistreatment of Christians and whites in America. He soon denounced his Judaism and became a full blown Christian - preaching the Gospel and all.

This is a major road story unto itself... and we never even got to see Helmet.
