1 - Tell us how
your project(s) were started.
IMPACT Press started as a concept in October 1995. The first issue came out in March 1996. I had done a newspaper at my university and, after getting bored of it and graduating, I realized I wanted to keep publishing. IMPACT grew out of that desire. So, myself and a friend tossed out a few thousands dollars to get started: buying a computer, scanner, printer, money to print, etc.
2 - What does music,
in its entirety, mean to you?
Feeling. It's amazing that you can get so many feelings just through listening to music. It can make you happy, sad, angry, excited, etc. But it can also bring up past feelings and put you in that place all over again. Great days, broken relationships, road trips... music is like an emotional card catalog to your life.
3 - What does art,
in its entirety, mean to you?
Freedom. It's an ability to express anything you'd like.
4 - Who is your
favorite author, and why?
I wish I forced myself to read more often. Not saying I don't read, but not like I used to. I have tons of unread and half-read books that desperately need attention. That said, I think my favorite author is Kurt Vonnegut.
5 - As your best
friend, describe yourself.
Craig is a compassionate guy who is committed to what he believes in. He's pretty damn funny, too. And a good bowler!
6 - As your worst
enemy, describe yourself.
Craig is a complete asshole. And, why is he so damn good at bowling?
7 - If your persona
were immortalized as a cartoon character, who would it be?
Ok, this is corny, but it's the most accurate: Captain Planet. Yeah, that goofy cartoon that appeared in the early '90s about a superhero and a group of teens that fight to help the planet.
8 - Do you think
there are conspiracies against the "everyday person"?
"Conspiracies", no. I think anything working against the everyday person is obvious. Our system is not built to really help the everyday person excel. That's really sad, too.
9 - What do you
do with your spare or free time?
Well, since I work a full time job, the magazine takes up a lot of my free time. Otherwise, I like going to the beach, going to shows, drinking beer, playing video games, bowling (of course), and other stuff that I can't think of right now.
10 - Please give
us your interpretation of "the meaning of life".
Ok, more corniness... but Bobby McFerrin said it perfectly: "Don't worry, be happy." Yeah, easier said than done, but it's a good goal. That said, I also think we should all try and live more compassionate lives by not eating animal products and supporting independent businesses that have fair practices and trade. I'm not trying to preach... you asked!
